About Hypnotherapy

Unlocking the Power of Your Mind for Positive Change

Transform Your Mind,
Transform Your Life.

How does it work?

Hypnotherapy has a long history. The British Medical Association approved its use in 1955, and the American Medical Association followed in 1958. During a session, the therapist uses the sound of their voice to help the client relax.

This relaxed state allows the client’s mind to drift naturally. In this state, the therapist communicates with the client’s subconscious mind and suggests previously agreed beneficial changes to improve physical or psychological well-being or to address unwanted behaviours.

Everyone develops particular ways of thinking and behaving due to life experiences. As we encounter new experiences, the subconscious mind is not always updated with more appropriate ways of thinking and behaving, much like running a faulty program. As a result, we may continue to use outdated and unproductive thought patterns, which can lead to unhelpful coping strategies and psychological difficulties, preventing us from living fully or achieving our potential.

The hypnotherapist works closely with the client to facilitate positive change. The changes the client wishes to make are discussed collaboratively before therapy, and a treatment plan is agreed upon prior to the start of sessions.

Clinical hypnotherapy is neither magical nor unsafe. The client remains in control at all times, and it is a reliable and effective practice that has successfully helped many clients improve their health and well-being.

Hypnotherapy can be used for a wide range of issues, including stopping smoking, overcoming phobias and fears, weight management, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, skin conditions, psychogenic infertility, stress, insomnia, performance anxiety, post-traumatic stress, cancer support, pain management, depression, anxiety, and preparation for driving tests and exams. In fact, the list of potential applications is almost endless.

Client Testimonial

I am a female aged 58 years old. I have suffered with poor sleep for at least 6 years. I have been tested for sleep apnoea at the hospital and had to do it 3 times because there was not enough reporting done as I did not sleep for long enough. Luckily I did not have sleep apnoea but was diagnosed with poor sleep hygiene. Getting up at 2/3 am became the norm for me which resulted in feeling fatigue and my health suffered terribly.

I am a sceptic of all things alternative but having spoken to Susanne and listening to some of the testimonials, I thought it was worth a try. After 3 sessions I feel like I have experienced something quite miraculous. I do not get up until after 6am everyday now and I feel like a different person.

All I can say to anyone is that it does work and I am living proof.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can you make me do something I don't want to do?

A: You will be in full control at all times and there will be no mind control or reading of your thoughts. Hypnotherapy is not the same as stage hypnosis so you will not be asked to do anything you don’t want to do during the session.

Q: What happens in a hypnotherapy session?

A: During the initial free consultation we will collaborate to help you work towards finding solutions to the challenges you face, and to support you in building greater resilience to tackle whatever life may throw at you moving forward. This will be embedded into your personalised hypnotherapy program of sessions.

Q: How do I prepare for my sessions?

A: Please ensure your phone is on silent, and that you are able to join the call in a location where you have some undisturbed privacy. Online sessions are best conducted with headphones. A good, reliable broadband is required.

Q: How many sessions will I need?

A: These methods are very effective, and the typical duration is 3-4 sessions. Sessions can be booked in 60 minute timeslots. Exceptions to this are for overcoming simple phobias (2 sessions) and stopping smoking/vaping (customised program of sessions). The ‘stop smoking’ session is 2 hours long, and must be booked at least 1 week in advance, to give yourself adequate time to prepare. However, these are just guidelines. Everyone has different needs, and everyone heals at their own pace. We can say goodbye when you feel ready.

Q: How much does it cost?

A: Our prices are transparent with no hidden charges so that clients know exactly what the cost will be for their sessions. Prices vary depending upon the type of concern the hypnotherapy is addressing. View our pricelist to find
out more.

Q: Is Hypnosis safe?

A: Hypnotic trance is something that we experience in our daily lives, similar to when we operate on automatic pilot such as driving in the car or daydreaming. It is therefore a very safe and natural state. It is a state of focused, relaxed attention allowing our sub-conscious mind to take in positive suggestion to bring about change. You will not take in anything you don’t wish to and you are in total control at all times.
